Pay Range: $25.00 to $29.65 per hour

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5:30pm; Candidates must have flexible working hours; capable of working four (4) ten-hour shifts. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

A Field Operations Crewleader job is available with The City of Fort Worth, TPW Stormwater division in the Vegetation Maintenance Program. The Vegetation Maintenance section maintains over 450 acres of drainage channels, areas, and easements 3 times a year. Maintains over 2000 culverts throughout the City of Fort Worth. Work will be in and around water, high grass and weeds. Work in and around poison ivy, poison oak, insects, snakes and wild life. Respond to weather events, such as flooding, ice / snow events. Work will be outdoors, in various weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities related to assigned division.
  • Candidate must have an acceptable driving record and possess a valid “Class A - CDL” driver’s license with tank endorsement. Applications will be accepted without the tank endorsement; however, a tank endorsement must be obtained prior to the hire date if selected for hire.
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical and Criminal Background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Use of vegetation tools/equipment including a weed-eater, chain saw, tractor with mowing attachment, chipper, Effer crane, skid steer with various attachments.
  • Work Zone/Traffic Control and Safety.
  • Basic Computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel, and entering data and running reports on work order asset management system.

The Field Operations Crewleader job responsibilities include:
  • Oversee and supervise a crew, ensuring that work is performed to city standard and on time.
  • Enter in time, equipment costing, photos of each job site using a computer or tablet.
  • Operate equipment, such as: tractor with batwing mowing attachment, dump truck with trailer, effer crane, weed eater, chainsaw, and other various hand tools.

Working Conditions:

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demands:

Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
