Minimum Qualifications Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Graduation from high school or equivalent and; Two years of responsible work experience as a journey level automotive mechanic,preferably including substantial experience in working on heavy construction equipment. Special Requirements: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver's License. Employees hired after August 20, 2013 and employees who have volunteered for the Heavy Equipment Operator Apprenticeship Program must also possess a Class A driving permit in conformance with the California Department of Motor Vehicle licensing requirements within six months from the date of hire and possession of valid California Class A driver's license within one year from the date of hire.
