Pay Range: $18.98/hr. - $23.72/hr.

A Parking Meter Technician II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Parking Services. The select candidate will have the ability to lead the Parking Enterprise operations maintenance duties in support of the related activities and services; including installing and maintaining parking related control devices and markings, providing device and sign installation and field maintenance services; and to aid the assigned supervisory personnel and to act as positive ambassador for the City of Fort Worth. Other duties include but are not limited to the ability to trouble shoot, work with hand tools & power tools, working knowledge in electronics, working knowledge of GIS, ability to keep daily logs, ability to understand basic math, ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • One year of experience related to parking control, traffic services, or a technical background
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Physical

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electronics or technical knowledge/education and experience
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Access skills
  • Customer Service experience
  • Record keeping such as maintaining daily cash reports, work orders and other miscellaneous reports

The Parking Meter Technician II job responsibilities include:
  • Provide maintenance duties in support of the activities and services of the Parking Enterprise operations and services including installing and maintaining parking related control devices and markings.
  • Device and sign installation and field maintenance services
  • Complete Parking Meter Rental Request for special events, utility work, and other request
  • Interact with City vendors, contractors, citizens and other personnel
  • Maintain daily cash reports, work orders and other miscellaneous reports
  • Perform vehicle inspections
  • Perform administrative tasks and data entry
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, tracking, routing, and monitoring supplies

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demand

Medium Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
