The Position

Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.

Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/Executive-Orders/ Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept, and in addition, function as a leadworker to a regularly assigned crew. Leadwork responsibilities include providing training and technical assistance, work assignment and work review, and providing input to performance evaluations. In a correctional setting, incumbents function as a leadworker for an inmate crew on a regular basis and document inmate performance through completion of periodic performance reports. Incumbents are also responsible for implementing security procedures which include securing the work area from unauthorized inmates and accountability for assigned inmates, staff, tools, and equipment.

This is a position in the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Division of Museums and History at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, which is located on the Springs Preserve campus. The Museum's mission is to inspire and educate a diverse public about the history and natural history of Nevada. The Museum collects, preserves, exhibits, and disseminates material that contributes to an understanding and appreciation of the state. This position has a variable workweek of Wednesday to Sunday with a Monday/Tuesday weekend. The position will work some holidays, two weekend days a week, and some evenings as needed for special events. For annual and sick leave accruals, health insurance, it is considered full time. Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment. May serve as a lead worker or first line supervisor to semi-skilled or general labor staff such as maintenance repair workers, grounds service workers, park aids, and custodial workers; maintain equipment maintenance and facility records and prepare related reports. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Three years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Some positions require a valid Class A, B, or C driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions are subject to call-back after work hours and call-out on weekends and holidays. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. Additional Position Criteria This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
