Pay Range: $20.44/hr. - $25.55/hr.

Workdays & Hours: This position is with a 24-hour 7-day week operation, that includes weekends and holidays.

This position will be assigned to the 3rd Shift, 11 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. The position is subject to working rotating shifts (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.; 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.), Weekends, Holidays, and overtime as necessary. Shift Differential Pay: $0.75 per hour for 2 nd Shift and $1.50 per hour for 3 rd Shift. The incumbent is expected to report to work during inclement weather conditions, working WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS and OVERTIME as necessary.

A Sr. Data Reporting Technician position is available with The City of Fort Worth Police Department - Data Reporting Unit. This position will contribute to the City’s strategic goals, mission and vision by supervising and coordinating service program activities and operations in support of the Police Department. Coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provides staff assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible customer service in an office or clerical setting, including data entry / production typing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possess a working knowledge of Central Square’s Records Enterprise or RMS, Mobile Enterprise or Visinet, Command Automated Dispatching (CAD) Enterprise, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of a customer service program within area of assignment.
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of customer service.
  • Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Principles and practices of data entry.
  • Methods and techniques of police offense report offense/event reporting.
  • Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computer.
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations.
  • Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of subordinate employees.
  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate employees.
  • Prepare and compile narrative and statistical police offense reports.
  • Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing effective customer service.
  • Interpret and explain City and FWPD customer service policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and processing of police reports are according to established guidelines.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

The Sr. Data Reporting Technician job responsibilities include:
  • Lead, plan, train, review and participate in the work of employees responsible for providing a wide variety of customer service in support of the Police Department.
  • Train assigned employees in their area of work including customer service methods, procedures and techniques.
  • Verify work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; Monitor and evaluate quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned customer service programs, service delivery methods and procedures; work with employees to improve City services.
  • Gather relevant data and compile narrative and statistical reports.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate files and records of police offense reports and correspondence.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensure all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

Working Conditions

Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to a fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
