Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision of Director, the Credential Advisor in this fully developed working level is responsible for providing various levels of information, advice, and assistance to prospective and admitted credential candidates: facilitates student registration and enrollment; monitors and maintains up-to-date credential information in preparation for credential recommendation, including database management; collaborates with other University and school district personnel to facilitate student progress; and serves as liaison between students and University personnel regarding credentialing requirements. Compiles and analyzes information, prepares reports as needed, and conducts outreach activities. Using professional judgment incumbent assists with administrative planning and participates in the implementation of creative solutions associated with the operation of programs both within the department, other campus departments and in the community. Incumbent assists with the coordination of candidate advisement with the general operations and processes of all credential pathways, in coordination with SOE program faculty, staff, and the Credential Analyst's Office.

The incumbent is expected to be able to perform the duties of the Student Services Professional I, Range B classification under general supervision. Employees in Range B will be expected to perform with greater independence and under general supervision in performing the duties encompassed by this classification.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

AND

Experience to include successful completion of the trainee capacity (SSP IA) for approximately six months to twelve months (not to exceed twelve months). Equivalent amounts of graduate-level, job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
  • Bilingual
  • Prior experience and knowledge about credential programs and PK-12 settings
  • Experience using Chico State systems, databases and software

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $51,228 - $72,480 per year.
