THE POSITION
We invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as our Animal Compliance Assistant managed by the Neighborhood Services Department. This position is responsible for assisting the Animal services Officers with the care and control of animals, ensuring public safety and welfare. Examples of Duties

In this position you will:
  • Maintain the animal holding facilities, grounds, and equipment in accordance with state regulations.
  • Assist in completing all public animal complaints reports including cruelty investigations, missing animals search and reunification, defecation complaints, licensing, noise complaints, and animal bites.
  • Remove, impound, manage and care for strays and unwanted animals.
  • Maintain adequate stock of food, equipment, and other supplies used in the care and maintenance of the animal shelter.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain daily logs relating to all animal control matters, including euthanasia, animal bites and quarantines.
  • Assist with community events, animal care, and coordinate the distribution of public information regarding animal services.


Typical Qualification

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a love of animals.
  • Must be able to pass the Police level fingerprint background check including driving record.
  • Ability to learn how to use specialized animal control equipment.
  • Desire to learn principles and practices for capturing and handling a variety of wild and domestic animals.
Preferred:
  • Two (2) years of animal handling experience, or any equivalent combination which provides the skills and abilities for this job.
**This position requires weekend and evening hours.

Compensation:
The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high performance culture. The Town package includes a no-cost to individual health insurance plan and a generous retirement package including participation in the Arizona State Retirement System.
The hourly range is $21.70 to $30.38.
The expected hiring range is $21.70 to $24.95.

Part-time regular employees:
  • General Leave:125 hours the first 5 years then increasing after 5 years.
  • Holidays: Eleven (11) paid holidays; Six(6) hours per day for PT employees.
