Pay Range: $25.55hr. - $31.94/hr.

A Plumbing Inspection Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division. The inspections division performs a variety of construction inspection duties including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, sign, and parkway inspections and verifying zoning compliance. With a staff of thirty-four employees, the inspections division performs inspections on a diverse mix of commercial and residential projects for compliance with building codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in plumbing inspection and/or construction related field.
  • State of Texas Journeyman Plumbing or Master Plumbing License as well as a Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners Inspector license when assigned as the Plumbing Specialist
  • Must pass Drug Screen, Physical.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ICC Commercial Energy Code certification
  • ICC Commercial Plumbing certification
  • Extensive plumbing inspection experience

The Plumbing Specialist job responsibilities include:
  • Performing plumbing inspections to verify compliance with the adopted codes on the more complex projects within the City of Fort Worth
  • Attend construction and pre-construction meetings with developers and permit holders.
  • Hands-on inspection training in the field with inspectors covering aspects of mechanical and energy.
  • Assisting with less complicated inspections when assistance is needed by other inspectors.

Working Conditions

Working in all weather conditions; including extreme weather and temperatures. Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting; depending on assignments. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils, and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demands

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
