Job Description

Minimum Qualifications
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

Engineer Associate A:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.


Licenses and Certifications Required:
None

Engineer Associate B:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years related experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.


Licenses and Certifications Required:

Engineer Associate C:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to the job, one (1) year in a lead capacity.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years

Notes to Applicants
This position will be responsible for conducting complex geospatial analysis and provide Division management with the data and information for performance management and maintenance planning. The Signs and Markings Division ( SMD ) is responsible for installing and maintaining approximately 250,000 traffic signs, over 6000 crosswalks, and thousands of other transportation-related assets in the City of Austin rights-of-way. The Division has a robust work order and asset management system (Knack) where work is submitted by requester, assigned to appropriate field groups, and tracked. The Engineering Associate A/B/C will work with Division leadership to best utilize this data. They will take the lead in managing, visualizing, analyzing, and presenting this data that is collected by Signs and Markings Division field staff, using geospatial analysis tools and techniques. This individual will work heavily with SMD asset information, such as different types of assets and their uses, life cycles of materials and in-field assets, installation or maintenance dates, and more to help with operational planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the division.

Pay Rates:
Engineering Associate A: $27.16 - $32.87
Engineering Associate B: $28.85 - $36.06
Engineering Associate C: $31.81 - $39.76
