A Street Field Operations Supervisor position is available with The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department. This position is assigned to the Street Operations Concrete Section and currently will be located at the Southside Service Center at 4100 Columbus Trail. The Field Operations Supervisor should possess extensive knowledge and experience in concrete street maintenance. This includes expertise in concrete panel replacement, curb and gutter work, sidewalk installation, and the materials and processes involved in these tasks. This position requires the candidate to be knowledgeable about the various types of concrete deficiencies and conditions found in streets and roads, as well as the methods for their repair and preservation.

This position requires working four ten hour shifts Tuesday through Friday and additional time as needed to assist with emergencies or maintenance needs which may include working in diverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services
  • Four years of related experience
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's license
  • Must pass Drug Screen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Moderate computer skills, i.e., VUEWorks, MobileVUE, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, other software platforms
  • Work zone safety knowledge, traffic control and/or training and Knowledge of snow/ice/hazardous weather conditions pertaining to Streets Operations
  • Supervisory experience including experience writing employee performance appraisals

The job responsibilities include:
  • Prioritize scheduled and emergency work
  • Provide direct in-field supervision of crews working on all phases of maintenance operations.
  • Schedule and monitor maintenance projects and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe worksite for employees and citizens.
  • Ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
  • Read engineering plans and blueprints.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Physical Demands

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
