Pay Range: $80,000 - $95,000 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

A Sr. Land Agent job is available with The City of Fort Worth Property Management Department, Real Estate Division. This position will be responsible for coordinating land management activities related to negotiating the lease, license, acquisition, management or sale of properties owned by the City, private individuals and corporate entities for public and private City-related infrastructure projects; and assists in the interpretation and application of laws governing the eminent domain process. This position will report to the Real Property Manager in the Real Property Section.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, real estate or a related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in real estate transactions (property acquisition, sales, leasing, property management), title examination, and/or real estate funding
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Notary Public Certificate within six (6) months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in eminent domain-related acquisitions, survey and land valuations, and/or commercial property leases
  • Real estate acquisition background
  • General knowledge of infrastructure design
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information System software is a plus

The Sr. Land Agent job responsibilities include:
  • Oversees the acquisition of property interests in easements or fee simple title for the construction of capital improvement projects through administrative process, negotiation or eminent domain
  • Prepares eminent domain documentation for unsettled property acquisitions for final disposition of the property interest
  • Presents formal written recommendations for Mayor and Council approval and attends public meetings as needed
  • Coordinates with professional staff and the City Attorney’s office terms and recommendations regarding real estate agreements, serving as real estate liaison with other City Departments
  • Makes recommendations to professional staff on preparation of council actions involving the sale, acquisition, lease or license of property
  • Supervises professional staff to complete relocation assistance for residential and commercial property owners displaced by public projects
  • Selects and manages third-party contract consultants, and reviews and approves related expenditures
  • Meets with project consultants and client departments to ensure compliance and assure the timely completion of the project as required by relative State or Federal Agencies
  • Responds to inquiries from property owners, private and public outside entities, boards, commissions, upper level City management and elected officials regarding land issues and investigations, and prepares reports on claims and complaints
  • Reviews and performs complex tasks of the work unit which would include negotiating property sales or lease terms, inspecting properties, determining value within appraisal guidelines and confirming signature authority on real estate documents
