Job Description

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide effective administration, operation, configuration and troubleshooting of the various technologies that provide systems deployment, application packaging and endpoint management services to campus devices. This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining servers, systems and applications managed by the Servers and Systems Group in the Division of Information Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of the Server and Systems Group lead, administer and maintain Intune, ConfigManager and Jamf Pro services and related endpoint management technologies.
  • Administer physical and virtual servers, which includes file, print and database servers, domain controllers, as well as client-server systems.
  • Work with SSG teammates to administer, maintain, and support campus Active Directory services. Develop and implement group policies and scripts to configure endpoints and automate administrative tasks.
  • Provide consulting and problem-solving skills to campus technical groups for servers, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, with technical and non-technical individuals within a culturally diverse campus environment. Maintain a professional demeanor. Maintain IT professional standards of anonymity for data that reside on campus servers and computer systems. Maintain confidentiality of all information. Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs and objectives of the department and/or division.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to write concise and effective technical documentation, implementation plans and end-user guides. General knowledge of using a personal computer. General knowledge of folding equipment. General ability to perform common clerical tasks. Follow oral and written directions, good communication skills, and ability to interface with computer users, programmers, supervision, and management. Ability to be personable and helpful when working with a diverse population by phone and other communication tools to solve problems.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree related to computing or equivalent and two years of IT related experience managing servers and systems required.

• Experience creating images, packaging applications, and deploying systems using various endpoint technologies such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune.

• Experience administering VMWare vCenter virtual infrastructure and Windows Server operating systems.

• Experience with management and operations of Windows Active Directory.

• Experience developing programs and scripts using Powershell or Visual Basic.

Physical Summary
  • Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,912 - $12,124 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
