Job Description

Pay Range: $16.45/hr. - $20.49/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Part-time, in-office with flexible schedule Monday - Friday between 8am - 5pm; not to exceed 19 hours a week.

An Office Assistant job is available with the City of Fort Worth Gun Violence Investigations Team / Violent Personal Crimes Division. The Gun Violence Investigations Team investigates shootings in the City of Fort Worth

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED certification.
  • Two (2) years of responsible clerical experience.
  • Must pass Drug Screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • General Human resource experience, assisting with position management & Payroll.

The Office Assistant job responsibilities include:
  • Filing documents and repots in an organized manner according to department specifications; organizing, filing and retrieving departmental or divisional records
  • Assist with managing and monitoring the authorized number of positions and vacancies within the Police Department.
  • Prepare routine reports, entering data and information into various computer programs, filing and retrieving departmental records.
  • Uses computer to prepare routine forms, letters, reports and other data; inputs records; assembles reports, copies and collates and staples documents.
  • Enters a variety of data and information into various computer programs.
  • Provides general clerical support as assigned by staff in assigned department.
  • Assists with special department events/projects.


Working Conditions:

Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to a fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years.

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
