Job Description

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director, International Training Programs, the primary function of the incumbent is to independently manage and implement International Training Programs (ITP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Within parameters set by Director, ITP, responsible for independent planning, recruiting and implementation of heavily customized programs that address the needs of non-U.S. corporate, government, and educational organizations.
  • Provide services for ITP customers including interpretation of instruction, responding to customer requests, assessing changes needed for current and future programs, and translation of print materials.
  • Coordinate budget for International Training Programs accounting for revenue and expenses related to the program.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Must enjoy working with international students. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to create and present professional proposals to an international audience. Experience working with diverse, multicultural population in cross-discipline, cross-cultural, and diverse settings. Ability to work with limited supervision and coordinate the day-to-day workflow. Ability to remain flexible and calm in a fast paced, ever-changing environment. Ability to prioritize workload, be professional and interact positively with others. Self-motivated and customer service oriented.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies or a related field, preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning, and two (2) years of experience in planning classes or programs in a specialized field or area, preferably in higher, extended, or adult education required.

• Overseas study experience strongly preferred.

• Minimum two (2) years working experience in a diverse, cross-cultural environment preferred.

Physical Summary

Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Licenses / Certificates

Valid CA Driver's License preferred.

• Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,054 - $6,000 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,054 - $7,194 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 2 years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
