Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Custodian provides general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, residential buildings, facilities, structures, offices, common areas, and adjacent areas. The incumbent cleans the common areas of buildings, apartments, and kitchens, including stoves, refrigerators, cupboards, sinks, floors, and vents, as well as patios, including glass and screen doors.
  • Cleans, dusts, and shampoos all housing furniture and upholstery, cleans blinds, disinfects restrooms, and cleans and prepares guest housing units, including bed making and laundering the linens.
  • Removes trash and recyclables, replenishes supplies, removes gum and graffiti, cleans light fixtures and HVAC air diffusers, polishes woodwork and metal surfaces, cleans interior and exterior stairwells, walkways, and elevators.
  • Supports cleaning efforts and staff across the student housing portfolio as instructed by operations management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to: read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial 2 systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
  • May require ability to move up to 50 pounds.
  • LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE.


Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification: Custodian / 2010 / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE: $3505 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $3505 - $4715 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
