Pay Range: $15.00hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 15-19 hours a week.

A GIS Intern job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works. /Business Support Services. The Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Asset Management Team in the Transportation Public Works Business Support group is responsible for maintaining the GIS data for all infrastructure assets and the asset management system. This position will provide hands on work experience with seasoned GIS professionals and offers an opportunity to put GIS knowledge from the classroom to practical use in the real world. The capacity to learn new processes is critical, as well as having good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A college student that is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with major focus in Computer Science, Information Systems or other GIS related field such as Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science or Environmental Science.
  • 6-12 hours of classroom experience with GIS principles and practices in a classroom setting.
  • Proficient with basic GIS concepts for data review, editing, map production and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the ESRI software suite of software products, 10.x
  • Knowledge of editing in ESRI software suite (Arc GIS Pro)
  • Adobe Illustrator for the creation of mapping products

The GIS Internjob responsibilities include:
  • Assist with construction plan research and updating stormwater GIS data
  • Assist with quality control and quality assurance of stormwater GIS data
  • Assist GIS staff with creating mapping products
  • Assist GIS staff with basic GIS analysis
