The Position

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

DETR is currently accepting resumes/applications for Administrative Assistant I positions within the Office of Appeals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Under the direction of the Chief of Appeals, the Administrative Assistant I will provide program support duties such as assisting program clientele in person and on the telephone; perform secretarial duties in support of the Appeals work unit; scheduling hearings; documenting appeal related information into the computer/database systems; processing appeals from all parties, including the initial assignment and reassignment of claimants, and the scheduling/rescheduling of hearings; prepare case files and docket calendars, including creating and sending/mailing the Notice of Hearing and the Marked Appeal Packet. (MAP) Other duties include providing customer service, including accepting incoming calls and making outgoing calls, informing claimants of their appeal status, and routing callers to the correct department, division, office and/or employee. Additionally, this position also schedules and processes interpretation services for hearings; processes all appeal related correspondence, documents, information, and requests received by mail, email, or fax, etc., and orders and distributes office supplies. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
