The Secretary Advanced Level classification is utilized in different departments across the County. It represents the highest working level in the Secretary series. Individuals in this position usually possess extensive experience in performing a range of intricate secretarial tasks that entail significant responsibility, with minimal supervision. Typically, the incumbent reports to individuals in high-level positions, such as Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Directors, or above.

We are currently looking to fill one (1) vacancy in the Contra Costa Health Department. However, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment can be used to fill vacancies in other departments when they become available.

The current vacancy is in the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) providing administrative support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). You will have many responsibilities including maintaining the CNO’s calendar and scheduling meetings. You will also update hospital and nursing policies once they’re approved by committees. This position has ready access to all the CNO’s correspondence and other information and is expected to know what is confidential and the extent to which it is confidential.

  • Scheduling meetings for the manager
  • Reviewing and managing incoming mail with responsibility for sorting, screening, and routing
  • Screening telephone calls and visitors and handling routine questions

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Possession of a high school diploma, GED equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) secretarial or office clerical experience.

Other Requirements: The ability to type at a net speed of not less than 40 words per minute from clear manuscript of printed or typewritten copy.

Selection Process

Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Online Typing Test: Applicants must complete a timed typing test validating the ability to type at least 40 actual net words per minute. Online Skills Assessment: Candidates invited to take the online skills assessment will need access to a computer and the internet.
