The Position

Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located within the Scheduling & Estimating Section of the Design Division, Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for aiding in development and maintenance of the five year project work plan. Duties include updating projects lists, identifying schedule and funding issues, and compiling recommendations to develop subsequent changes to the plan. The position assists with the maintenance of project information in the Department's Project Scheduling and Management System and in the development and review of the engineers cost estimate in the Masterworks system. The position also assists in the development of conceptual designs including roadway geometrics, quantities, and cost estimates for Department scoping efforts. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
