The Security Division is responsible for the physical security of County employees and citizens. Security Officers accomplish this by patrolling buildings and grounds to ensure security and fire protection, securing facilities to prevent unauthorized entry, enforcing security rules and regulations, and reporting illegal security breaches and behavior to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Ideal candidates should possess keen observation skills, the ability to adapt to a variety of situations requiring sound judgment and have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Please note : The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules. Extra-help (temporary) positions are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, do not obtain permanent status, and serve at the will of the department head.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.

Minimum Qualifications Education : Possession of a United States' high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

Certification : Ability to obtain a Security Guard Card issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) within one (1) year from the date of hire or be rejected during the probationary period.

Note : Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment. Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain California Department of Social Services Guardian clearance as a condition of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS :
Depending upon the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements, applicants may be scheduled for the process listed below:
