The City of Irvine seeks an innovative Web Developer to analyze enterprise system needs for the departments and implement enhancements. The selected individual must be a s trong analytical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills.

Your Impact
  • Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise systems and related server and client-side processes.
  • Integrate third party software and data from various back-end services, databases, and sources.
  • Administer relational databases and reporting.
  • Evaluate new and enhanced approaches to deliver modern IT services and solutions.
  • Develop quality technical documentation on processes, solutions, and programs.
  • Oversee website functionality, development, and enhancements.
  • Evaluate and develops well-designed, modular code using best practices and industry standards and is compatible with all devices.
  • Provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of IT issues.
  • Maintain a professional understanding of web development by tracking trends.
  • This position will be filled as an Information Technology Specialist II with the working title of Web Developer.

  • Proficiency with Web Content Management Systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
  • Proficiency in Git or DevOps for version control, merging code, managing branches and releases.
  • Proficiency in building modern, interactive experiences for web applications.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools (e.g., Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and design.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of information technology experience, with one those years acting in a lead or expert capacity performing a variety of progressively responsible technical or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in one or more functional area or a closely related or emerging information technology field or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The Process
The selection process will include one or more rounds of interviews, with the requirement to complete a health physical and background investigation, prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
