Pay Range: $23.72/hr to $27.52/hr

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 5:30pm or Monday - Friday 7am to 5:30pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

A Senior Equipment Operator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works/Streets division at the North and South yards. The candidate selected for this position will work in Concrete or Asphalt Sector operating heavy equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED with additional specialized training in equipment operations. Three years of experience in operation of motorized equipment. (dump truck, backhoe, skid steer, etc.).
  • Possess a valid "Class A- CDL" Driver's License with Tank Endorsement. Applications will be accepted without the tank endorsement; however, a tank endorsement must be obtained at the time of hire if selected for hire.
  • Must pass drug screen, physical and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Construction, repair and maintenance of asphalt and concrete roads
  • Concrete work and Asphalt work, including operation of heavy equipment.
  • Work Zone Safety.
  • Experience with equipment including concrete hand tools, asphalt rake, shovel, saws, compressors, generators, various hand tools, front end loader, backhoe, excavator, skid steer and tools or equipment related to Street Maintenance.

The job responsibilities include:
  • On-road equipment including operating a dump truck and/ or tractor trailer.
  • Off-road equipment such as backhoe, skid steer, grade-all, and roller.
  • Pavement repair and maintenance.
  • Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and use of data entry systems such as VueWorks and/or work order management systems.
  • Work zone set up and job site safety. Trains and monitors crewmembers.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demand

Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. working in extreme heat and cold and inclement weather.
