Pay Range: $16.45/hr. - $20.49/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday; 630am - 5pm; Some evening/weekend and on call work will be required.

A Signs and Markings Technician I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works department within the Traffic Management Division. Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with residents, contractors, and customers? Would you like to improve the safety of the citizens and visitors to Fort Worth?

The section is seeking a Signs and Markings Technician I, repair and maintain signs as well as pavement markings, and occasionally assist with traffic signal and street lights installations. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED and no experience required
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Must pass Drug Screen and Physical

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in signs and markings installation
  • Work Zone Traffic Control and Qualified Flagger Certification
  • Signs and Markings Lev 1 Certification

The Signs and Marking Technician I job responsibilities include:
  • Installs, removes and maintains traffic control signs. Measures and marks street, stalls and lanes for street painting. Installs crosswalks, medians and turn lanes. Applies reflectors and epoxy adhesives.
  • Interprets work orders/ blueprints
  • Participates in fabricates, installation, maintenance and repair of city signs and markings including those required for city streets, parking lots and other related city infrastructure.
  • Complete various forms as required indicating work performed and equipment and supplies used.
  • Employs safe work practices
