The Position

Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Human Resource Office is looking for an HR professional at our Southern Human Resource Office in Las Vegas. The incumbent will be part of a team that provides professional and customer-oriented HR services to over 2000 employees. Duties include providing supervision and directing work activities of professional and/or technical staff delivering comprehensive HR services; have a key role in employee and management relations, disciplinary issues, grievances, mediation and development and presentation of HR training, based on the needs of the agency. This position will work closely with and report to the Chief of HR Services and will be part of the leadership team for the Northern and Southern HR offices. The ideal candidate understands HR practices, is well-organized, professional, diplomatic and approachable; has supervisory experience, analytical skills necessary to assess situations and identify potential solutions, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve and handle complex HR matters with confidence and confidentiality. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
