Job Summary

The City of Greenville is seeking individuals to join our Parking Division as Parking Control Officers. This position enforces municipal parking regulations within the City limits by issuing citations, patrolling assigned areas, assisting with special events, and more. Part-time position working approximately 15-19 hours per week including nights and weekends. No benefits are earned for this position.

Examples of Duties

  • Patrols assigned area on foot or via vehicle or Segway to enforce parking regulations;
  • Responds to parking complaints outside of the normal patrol areas as needed;
  • Issues citations and arranges towing for vehicles found in violation of City ordinances as appropriate;
  • Time marks vehicles parked in time restricted zones;
  • Notes improperly parked vehicles and takes appropriate enforcement action;
  • Recommends justifiable excuse of violations;
  • Notes malfunctioning parking meters and reports same to maintenance personnel;
  • Answers inquiries from general public and provides directions and street locations;
  • Participates in public information sessions to educate citizens on City ordinances related to parking;
  • Files traffic citations according to established procedures;
  • Prepares daily reports of activities;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience :
  • High school diploma or GED; and
  • Prior ordinance enforcement experience preferred, but not required.

Special Requirements

  • Must currently possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C. (Note: A valid driver's license is a current driver's license that is not revoked, suspended, or subject to limited restoration or conditional operation privileges).
  • This position may require work to be performed on nights and weekends.


Regular part-time, temporary, and seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits.
