Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Planner I in the Department of Community Development and Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision, conducts research and analysis on community development projects and issues; and performs related work as assigned.

The current vacancies are within the Development Services Center. In the Development Services Center, the successful applicants will review building permits, addressing, and mapping applications for compliance with entitlement approvals and zoning regulations, conduct inspections of completed developments, and provide customer service.

  • The salary range for this position is $29.52 - $44.28 Hourly
    • Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a closely related field OR
  • Associate’s Degree with a major in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a closely related field, and two (2) years of experience conducting research and analysis on planning, zoning, or community development issues
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license as defined by NRS 483
