in the role of Senior Natural Resources Worker.

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the regular and full-time position of Senior Natural Resources Worker in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department. The employment list that will be established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future regular, limited-term, and temporary vacancies. The current vacancy is regular, full-time, and benefitted. The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00AM - 3:30PM. A flex schedule may be available.

DEFINITION

To perform a wide variety of technical natural resource management and maintenance tasks in open space areas such as creeks, preserves, riparian and the urban forest; to plan, coordinate and oversee work performed by contractors and City staff; and to assist in the administration of the City’s open space and natural resources.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the advanced journey level class in the Natural Resources Worker series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed, complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, by the amount of time spent performing the duties, and by the nature of the public contact made. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including providing technical and functional supervision and performance of advanced journey level activities. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:
  • Two years of experience performing work similar to that of a Natural Resources Worker II in the City of Roseville.

AND

Training:
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; coursework in natural resource management, plant or wildlife biology, forestry or a related field is desirable.

AND

License or Cert i f ica t e:
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
  • Possession of a California Class A driver’s license within one year of date of appointment.
  • Possession of a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) within one year of date of appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.

Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
