San Bernardino County seeks a passionate, dynamic, and high performing Government Affairs Analyst* to support the County’s Director of Government Relations in analyzing political data sets and managing dashboards, interpreting data to inform strategic decision-making, cultivating strong relationships with dignitaries, community leaders within the region to advocate for the County’s political interests. The role demands sound judgment and emotional intelligence to handle a wide array of sensitive political matters involving federal, state, and tribal officials, as well as local governments, government agencies, businesses, and non-profits. The Government Affairs Analyst will play a crucial behind-the-scenes role, assisting in day-to-day operations, preparing meeting materials, coordinating media events, communicating effectively with legislative offices and other agencies, addressing external inquiries, and assisting the Director with community engagement strategy.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This position offers full benefits and a c ompetitive salary of $105,996.80 - $151,424.00 annually

Select our Modified Benefits Package and Boost your base salary by 4% up to $157,480

3% Annual Across the Board Salary Increase February 2025
Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to the top step

Essential duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Support daily departmental operations to ensure seamless functionality.
  • Enhance organizational effectiveness through cross-departmental collaboration and teamwork.
  • Conduct research to understand county partnerships and dynamics, identifying mutual interests and benefits for governments, agencies, and non-profit organizations.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefs, summaries, and reports on relevant topics.
  • Manage and maintain departmental databases.
  • Provide communication support by drafting and editing internal and external communications.
  • Coordinate and prepare for meetings by organizing agendas, talking points, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with the director and team members to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Stay informed about local news and trends that impact the county's interests.
  • Regularly update the department website, including contributing and managing content.
  • Maintain professional communication with high-level executives.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Willingness to travel within the county as required.
**Salary Increases are contingent upon assessed values for previous fiscal year.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
License: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Background : Candidates selected for this position must pass a background investigation and medical examination including drug screening.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, Political Science, Public Policy or other relevant field.

Experience:
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional-level, administrative experience with primary responsibility for conducting complex research and specialized analysis of programs, legislation, and/or policies that impact government, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholder agencies.

Applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position may be considered.
