Position DescriptionManages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Major/Essential Functions-Establish and disseminate annual rotation, clinic, and call schedule; oversee and update as necessary throughout the year.
-Meet with Program Director on a regular basis to update on changes to individual resident/fellow rotation schedule, or issues related to GME program accreditation, requirements, and compliance.
-Coordinate educational activities(e.g, didactic conference schedule, Grand Rounds) that support the programs curriculum and adhere to ACGME requirements.
-Interpret ACGME requirements, TTUHSC House Staff policies and procedures, and other TTUHSC policies as applicable, and develop and maintain GME program policies and procedures; Update GME Program Manual.
-Advise residents and/or fellows and monitor progress toward specialty specific board certification eligibility.
-Advise and consult on issues or inquiries from residents/fellows, faculty, Institutional GME Office.
-Compile documents for quarterly evaluations; coordinate quarterly evaluation schedule.
-Serve as a liaison for residents.
-Identify areas for GME programmatic improvements and advise GME Program Evaluation Committee on ways to address weaknesses.
-Develop/manage program website, ERAS PDWS, NRMPR3 system, and other internal and/or external systems for GME program.
-Manage GME program operations budget.
-Schedule semi-annually Clinical Competency Committee, semi-annual resident/PD review and annual Program evaluation Committee, schedule quarterly evaluations.
-Coordinates GME program recruitment, application, and interview process.
-Coordinates resident/fellow arrival, on-boarding, and orientation.
-Collects and reviews resident/fellow duty hour logs for accuracy and compliance with ACGME requirements; provides to GME Office.
-Maintains GME program and residents/fellows records according to State and ACGME record retention requirements.
-Assists Department Chair, Program Director, Department Administrator with inquiries or reports pertaining to the GME Program.
-Serves as GME Program liaison for internal and external organizations.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
