Hiring Range: $62,400 to $83,054 annually, depending on qualifications

The selected candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including the ability to work during all City Council and Planning Commission meetings . City Council meetings occur on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month . Planning Commission meetings occur on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month.

The Audio Visual (AV) Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of all audio visual systems throughout the City of Olathe. This includes overseeing vendor-installed systems, project management for new installations and upgrades, installation of smaller systems, and programming existing systems to meet evolving needs. The role also involves managing and conducting live broadcasts for city council and planning commission meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee s the lifecycle of all AV systems across the city, ensuring systems are up-to-date, fully functional, and meet ing the city’s requirements ; d evelop s and implement s maintenance schedules and upgrade plans for AV systems .
  • M anage s relationships with vendors for the installation, maintenance, and upgrading of AV systems ; e valuate s vendor performance, negotiate s contracts, and ensure s compliance with contractual agreements for new system installations .
  • Lead s and manage s projects for new AV system installations and upgrades ; c oordinate s with internal teams and external vendors to ensure projects are completed according to the schedule and the desired functionality .
  • Program s and configure s existing AV systems, including Q-Sys, Crestron, and Shure, to meet the changing needs of the city ; t roubleshoot s and resolve s issues related to AV system programming and performance .
  • Manage s and conduct s live broadcasts for city council and planning commission meetings , requiring onsite support in the evenings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays and the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.

Qualifications

Experience: A m inimum of three years of experience in managing AV systems, including lifecycle management, vendor management, project management, and system programming is required . Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills , s trong communication and interpersonal skills , and the a bility to work effectively with vendors, internal teams, and external stakeholders are all es sential. Must have p roficiency in programming AV systems and using relevant software tools. Experience with Q-Sys, Crestron, and Shure DSPs is preferred.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required . A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver’s lice nse and favorable driving record are required . Relevant certifications in AV systems (e.g., CTS, Crestron, Q-Sys) are preferred .

Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language is required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: Work requires the a bility to lift and move AV equipment as required as well as the mobility to access equipment which may require climbing ladders, entering small spaces, bending, and stopping.
