The Position

Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.

Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

This position provides oversight and management for the ITS Planning and Operations section as well as the Operations and Network Analysis (ONA) section in the Traffic Operations Division of NDOT and reports directly to the Division Chief Engineer. The primary job functions for this position include providing management, supervision, and guidance for divisional work teams and team members, engineering consultants, and service providers to ensure compliance with all established policies and procedures. Responsibility for the oversight, review, and completion of a wide variety of statewide Traffic Operations Division projects and programs. Participation in hearings, panels, committees, and meetings with NDOT districts and divisions, as well as federal, state, and local government agencies. Assists the Chief Traffic Operations Engineer with personnel, budget, and overall operational aspects of the Traffic Operations Division. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Special Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
