Have degree in Civil Engineering? We might even have the perfect fit for you! The City of San Marcos is hiring for multiple positions within our Engineering & Capital Improvements Department. Our engineers work on a variety of projects including Site Preparation Permits, Public Improvements Construction Plans, and Watershed Protection Plans. They help develop the complex system that is San Marcos, and without them, the citizens and visitors couldn’t enjoy this City and all it has to offer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING

These positions may include (see job descriptions for specifics): Serving as a Project Manager. Providing Development Services Engineering to ensure private development and public infrastructure is designed and constructed in conformance with City of San Marcos requirements. Planning, designing, implementing, and overseeing construction. Serving as engineering liaison.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

If you have your bachelor's in Civil Engineering from a nationally accredited university, you may qualify for our Graduate I Engineer which starts at $70,500/year .

If you have your bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from a nationally accredited university and your EIT certification for Texas (or have passed your Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) with 2 years' experience , you may qualify for our Graduate II Engineer which starts at
$78,000/year .

Already have your PE (or have met all criteria for a PE)? You may qualify for a Project Engineer position which starts at $86,500/year.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK HOURS
*8:00am - 5:00pm
Monday - Friday

*Flexible working options such as Teleworking and Alternative start times are available.
  • This position will allow for up to 2 days per week teleworking after the first 6 months.
  • This position will allow you to designate an alternative start time between 7 am and 9 am; but you must work 8 hours per day and complete your work by 7pm, Monday-Friday.
