Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations and working as part of a team, the Director of Alumni Relations and Engagement develops, implements and manages engagement initiatives and programs targeted toward alumni, students, volunteers and donors. As a leader in the Alumni Relations and Engagement team, the incumbent builds and strengthens relationships with campus partners, alumni, students and volunteers in support of the University’s mission and priorities.
  • The Director fosters alumni participation in and support of CSUN through the leadership and management of the Alumni Association membership program, delivery of alumni career services and professional development programs, alumni chapter programs, student retention and young alumni support initiatives, alumni scholarship program, reunion celebrations, and signature events.
  • The Director solicits sponsorships and philanthropic gifts in support of departmental operations. Serves on various University committees and task forces, as appropriate.
  • As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university’s vision, values and priorities. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team. Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university. Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills; experience in identifying, connecting and fostering relationships with volunteers, corporate partners or alumni.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while still tending to important details and maintaining positive relations with constituents.
  • Ability to lead innovative and process improvement efforts and develop new programs, approaches and solutions; analyze, interpret, integrate, and present data and information to create new methods and strategic short and long-term alumni-related communications; manage time and workload, multitask and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment often involving working with complex, sensitive and confidential stakeholder information;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team-oriented environment; effectively identify, interact, communicate and be responsive to multiple and diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Must be results-oriented and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $100,000 - $106,500 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • The position is currently hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
