The Job

The Department of Public Health is recruiting for Supervising Health Services Assistants who plan and supervise the work of a group of Health Services Assistants and perform administrative duties as well as direct client services. In addition, this position will have a lead Health Services Assistant II assigned under their scope of supervision.

The current vacancy exists within the Department of Public Health's Woman Infant Children (WIC) program.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: Travel using a personal vehicle may be required; mileage reimbursement will be provided. At the time of hire and continuing throughout employment, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Travel throughout the county may be required, and may include travel to the high and low desert areas.

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Two (2)years of full-time equivalent experience assisting medical or health care professionals in providing health services in a public health setting - OR - Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience providing or assisting in the provision of health and health-related education in a classroom or public setting.

Substitution: Successful completion of a medical assistant or certified nursing attendant program may substitute for six (6) months of the required experience. A copy of the certificate must be attached to the application.

Desired Qualifications

Applicants with lead or supervisory experience are greatly encouraged to apply.

A High School Diploma or G.E.D is strongly desired and required for positions in the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal/customer service skills, basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), and knowledge of community resources as well as experience in working with the community, especially with pregnant/breastfeeding women, infants, and/or children.
