Major/Essential Functions
Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is a key leadership role within the Financial Aid Office. This position focuses on the oversight of financial aid reporting and programming. The Assistant Director will manage award processes, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulations. Additionally, this role involves developing and implementing financial aid programming that supports student success and accessibility.
Financial Aid Programming:
  • Primary oversight and responsible for financial aid processing (data load, budgeting, tracking)
  • Design, implement, and evaluate financial aid programs that support student enrollment, retention, and graduation.
  • Responsible for monitoring and updating Banner with current information.
  • Implement and coordinate the packaging, scheduling and disbursing of financial aid funds.
  • Monitor and review daily disbursement reports for accuracy.
  • Oversee all Banner testing and training.
  • Provide leadership in the development and delivery of financial literacy and education programs for students.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units to promote accurate financial aid processing.
  • Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of financial aid programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and policies.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to scholarships and financial aid programming to institutional stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of scholarship programs and financial aid services.
  • Participate in audits and compliance reviews, addressing any findings or recommendations.
Leadership and Supervision:
  • Mentor and train staff on programming processes and compliance requirements.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
  • Meet deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy, professionalism and a customer service orientation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for escalated student inquiries and concerns related to financial aid programming.
Student and Community Engagement:
  • Provide individual counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options, scholarships, and program eligibility.
  • Engage with the TTUHSC community, including faculty, staff, and student organizations, to promote financial aid resources and services.
  • Represent the Financial Aid Office at institutional events, community outreach programs, and professional conferences.
Working Conditions
  • This position typically works in a standard office environment but may require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or professional development.
  • The role involves significant interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Reports to Associate Managing Director of Financial Aid

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
