The Position

Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II that may be located at the West Charleston Clinic or East Las Vegas Clinic in Las Vegas. Psychiatric Caseworkers assess and reassess the clients' level of functioning by interviewing clients, family members, and other community contacts; evaluate clients' needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; refer clients to appropriate services according to the service/care coordination plan; and work as a team to provide service coordination, make referrals to other service providers and community resources, and discuss mental and emotional conditions among others. This position is responsible for crises intervention, documenting client progress, and assessing client needs and resources available. In addition, knowledge of case management practices and procedures, laws governing abuse and neglect of clients, and treatment planning and implementation are essential. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
