THE CITY OF WACO SEEKS:
A Parks Crew Leader with experience in landscaping, grounds keeping, and mechanical/ small engine repair (mowers, weed eaters, blowers, etc) to lead and coordinate work crews that maintain City Parks, grounds, and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in landscaping and grounds keeping work, preferably with the City of Waco
  • Valid Texas Driver's License

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under basic supervision, leads and coordinates work crews cleaning and maintaining City parks, grounds and equipment; reviews and prioritizes work orders, assigns work, verifies work completion.

Primary Duties

  • Leads work crews in the maintenance and repair of City parks and facilities; works independently and make appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties may vary according to job assignment.
  • Assigns work, leads work crews and trains workers in the proper use of equipment and tools; assures appropriate tools, equipment and materials are at the job site; monitors work site to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed and that the work zone and all equipment are in safe operating condition.
  • Inspects park grounds and facilities and verifies quality of work performed; recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries; maintains records of work performed; inspects and maintains tools and equipment; performs duties of Parks Maintenance Worker as needed.
  • May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
