Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Engagement and Programs Administrator in the Department of Community Development and Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year

Under general supervision, coordinates and supervises public engagement functions and staff, leads and designs community engagement and outreach strategies and public engagement and communication activities for the Community Development and Services Department; and performs related duties as assigned.

Position Information:
  • The standard schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm (4-day work week)
  • Incumbent may be required to work weekends for offsite events.
  • This position may be eligible for remote work up to two days per week; at least 50% of work time must be spent in-person onsite.
  • Work schedules and remote work opportunities are subject to change.
  • This option for remote work is only available for incumbents who have completed their probationary/qualifying period.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent may expect work to be conducted in a traditional office environment, based out of Henderson City Hall (Henderson, Nevada.) Occasional travel may occur.

Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public relations, marketing, journalism, communications, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) years of professional level experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field, which included experience developing and/or participating in community outreach and engagement activities
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Desirable: Two (2) years of experience supervising professional staff

PAID TIME OFF (PTO)

    • Second year through fifth calendar years of service - 17.42 hours per month
    • Sixth year through twelfth calendar years of service - 20.59 hours per month
    • Thirteenth calendar year of service and beyond - 23.75 hours per month

*Actual number of days and hours of PTO granted may vary by position

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
  • Four (4) workdays of leave, with pay, per occurrence

HOLIDAYS
  • 13 paid holidays per year
  • Two (2) floating holidays per year (one in first year if hired on or after July 1st)

WORK WEEK
  • Four-day, 9.5-hour workday, 38-hour work week
  • Four-day, 10-hour workday, 40-hour work week for Police PERS positions
