Position Summary:
Operates and controls multiple computer systems including large-scale mainframe units, mid-range computer systems and integrated communications network and peripheral equipment. Acts as the lead computer technician on a shift.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to two (2) years of college level course work in computer sciences or a closely related field and experience and four (4) years of experience in the installation and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

  • Field Work: The candidate must be capable of performing on-site technical support, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot in various field locations.
  • Telephonic Support: The role involves providing customer assistance and resolving technical queries over the phone for extended periods.
  • Experience in hospital, clinic or other healthcare setting
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Outstanding communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to be on overnight/weekend Stand By (On Call)
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Computer and LAN hardware and software; documentation and user instruction methods and techniques; record keeping principles and practices; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware and software; monitoring and assigning work to staff; using and instructing others in the use of computer hardware and software; performing preventive maintenance on computers and peripherals; conducting inventory of computers and peripherals; maintaining clear and accurate records of work performed; preparing clear and concise user documentation, instructions, etc.; using initiative and independent judgement within established procedural guidelines; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
