POSITION OVERVIEW

PURPOSE OF DIVISION
The Information Technology Division is responsible for providing and maintaining the technology infrastructure, systems, and applications that act as a force multiplier to assist the Houston Airport System in pursuing its mission and vision. The Information Technology Division is further responsible for maintaining awareness of, and then sourcing and implementing technology, as and when it emerges, to keep the Houston Airport System at the vanguard for safety, efficiency, and above all, superior customer service.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to build and maintain a modern, efficient, and effective solutions and drive organization in transforming and automating the business processes, tasks, data output and utilization. This position may serve as a Power BI expert in business or functional area for the design, development, maintenance, and enhancements and lead data visualization, data transformation life cycle and process improvement projects. Provides technical documentations, guidance and training to less experience team members and may collaborate with other business units for quality assurance responsibilities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

SYSTEMS ANALYSIS & PROGRAMMING: Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives based on user needs. Develops and tests moderately complex applications by applying knowledge of programming or database techniques and computer systems. Devises or modifies procedures to solve moderately complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Ensures effectiveness of applications by performing preventive maintenance work; applies patches; performs upgrades.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provides technical assistance on moderately complex software issues. Serves as tier 2 support to resolve end-users problems. Evaluates user’s requests for new or modified application features. Determines feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.

ADMINISTRATION: Prepares technical support documentation to describe application development, configuration, logic, coding and corrections. Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.

TEAM EFFORT: Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and performing related responsibilities as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as computers, printers, or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or stooping, bending, very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis and extensive use of a video display terminal. There may be sources of discomfort, i.e., outdoor installations, hot/cold temperature and humid/wet conditions. Hands-on environment. May have on-call responsibilities and rotating shifts. Significant time spent using computer display, keyboard and mouse.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.

Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable.

Related professional Information Systems, experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT applications.

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement

Preferences shall be given to those with the following experience:
  • Designs training programs, classes, workshops, and Computer Based Training (CBT) and on-line help.
  • Delivers training to a variety of audiences, understanding and applying adult learning principles.
  • Teaching virtual classes
  • Training and education experience
  • OneDrive, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams administration experience
