The Position

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.

This position is with the Department of Business & Industry, Director's Office. The incumbent will provide IT support across the department's twelve divisions and business units. A significant amount of the incumbent's time will be assigned to the Industrial Relations Division, which is the largest division in the department. The primary Duty station will be in Las Vegas. Travel may be required to outlying offices and Carson City/Reno periodically. The position will be reporting directly to the Director's Office IT Professional 4 position and will be responsible for multiple systems across the department. Key responsibilities include Enterprise Application Administration & Support, User Support, and System Administration. The candidate will need to possess documentation skills, including the ability to train others, and the ability to function as a member in a collaborative team environment. This position will collaborate with other members of IT staff to resolve issues such as databases, cloud applications, Active Directory infrastructure and network issues. The position will be responsible for ongoing technical support and operational maintenance of the enterprise environment under limited supervision and act as a subject matter expert. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions require an applicant to undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. Special Requirements Some positions require statewide travel. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
