The Department of Internal Services is offering an exciting career opportunity for driven and resourceful individuals interested in a career as a Network Systems Engineer I within the Systems Team.

The Network Systems Engineer I - Systems incumbent will perform a broad range of duties to include creating deployment packages consisting of applications, upgrades, patches, and more; deploying updates to software applications, operating systems, and other utilities; and monitoring and reporting progress on large scale deployments.

HYBRID TELEWORK AVAILABILITY (Remote work options) - Some departments may offer hybrid telework opportunities which are dependent upon departmental directives. Currently, the Department of Internal Services offers some hybrid telework opportunities with at least 2 days required in-office per week . All schedules are subject to manager and/or supervisor approval. Positions in this classification are in Medical Group I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.

Minimum Qualifications OPTION 1 :

Experience : Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience designing, building, maintaining or administering enterprise level server systems, which included one (1) year of experience preparing and tracking large-scale deployments using Microsoft Intune or Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

Substitution : Possession of a valid associate's level certification from CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco in networking, server administration, virtualizing, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. The experience preparing and tracking large-scale deployments using Microsoft Intune or Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) cannot be substituted.

OR

Possession of a valid progression or expert level certification from CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware in networking, server administration, virtualization, or a closely related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. The experience preparing and tracking large-scale deployments using Microsoft Intune or Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) cannot be substituted.

OPTION 2 :

Education : Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS :

Depending upon the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements, applicants may be scheduled for one of the processes listed below:

  • Certification Without Examination - In instances where the number of eligible candidates is less than or equal to the number of qualified applicants the Department is entitled to receive under Personnel Rule 4212, the competitive examination process will be waived and the names will be certified without an examination.
  • Written Examination - If required, the examination will be offered in an online format. Please indicate on the supplemental questionnaire if you have the ability to complete an online examination.

Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to 12 months), and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
