What you will typically be responsible for:
  • Reconciling and balancing fund accounts
  • Reviewing documents authorizing expenditures for compliance purposes
  • Completing more complex central payroll work that can involve extensions, deductions, adjustments, corrections, and special warrants
  • Interpreting and applying various Federal, State, and County rules and regulations

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Four (4) years of full-time experience in the preparation and processing of accounting documents and in the maintenance of accounting records, one (1) year of which was at the level of Contra Costa County Account Clerk Advanced classification.

Substitution for Experience: Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting from an accredited college or university can be substituted for one year of the required experience; completion of additional education units or a college degree in business administration, finance, accounting, auditing, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Selection Process

The assessment will measure candidates' competencies that may include but are not limited to Professional & Technical Expertise, Attention to Detail, Professional Integrity & Ethics, and Reading Comprehension. The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take the assessment. It is not recommended to take the assessment using a cell phone. (Weighted 100%) Tentatively scheduled: July 10 - July 14, 2024. Hiring Interview: These will be scheduled by the department once the eligible list is established.
