Job Description

The Job

San Bernardino County Library is recruiting for a Library Courier* who collects, sorts, and delivers library materials throughout the San Bernardino County Library System. Duties include daily delivery to assigned branch libraries and assists with shipment fulfillment and logistics at the Library warehouse.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, employees must pass a background check, including DMV and meet medical standards including drug and alcohol testing.

License: Travel throughout the county is required. Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance.

Working Conditions: This position requires frequent moving, lifting, and carrying of items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 70 lbs, either manually or with the aid of lifting devices, i.e. dollies and/or large carts.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet ONE (1) of the options.

EXPERIENCE OPTION 1:
Six (6) months (full-time equivalent) experience with mail processing operations in a mail room environment that includes primary responsibility for operating mail processing equipment including postage mailing machines, to process large quantities of mail material. (Note: office clerical experience is not considered qualifying.)
EXPERIENCE OPTION 2:
Six (6) months (full-time equivalent) experience performing courier duties which involved delivery and/or pickup services for multiple daily route locations, as well as determining schedules and best route sequences. (Note: public transportation or food delivery is not considered qualifying.)
