The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health is recruiting for an IT Technician 2. This position is located within Public and Behavioral Health Division's Office of Informatics and Technology located at 4150 Technology Way, Ste. 106, Carson City. Information Technology Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support operations. Incumbents independently resolve many users' PC issues including email and applications problems and record calls using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; use utilities to check for network connectivity; and establish user rights. Information Technology Technicians III monitor and maintain the help desk call center and work tracking software providing user support by remotely trouble shooting application and system problems; remote software upgrades and installs; management of inventory and security documentation; work ticket assignment to field technicians. This position must maintain knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in the installation, maintenance, and support of the agency desktop environment. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, one year of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
