Pay Range: $23.72/hr. - $29.65/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 2pm - 11pm; Evening/weekend work required.

The City of Fort Worth Water Utility is a fast paced and rewarding department that is responsible for providing safe and reliable water to the citizens of Fort Worth. Our Management Service Division has a Security Supervisor job available in the Security and Emergency Management Section which is a 24/7 operation. This position is responsible for supporting a wide variety of complex administrative and fiscal tasks that support Security and Emergency Management staff operations. The position ensures work quality and adherence to established security policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in security, law enforcement or a related field
  • Four (4) years of security or law enforcement experience
  • One (1) year of complex administrative lead/supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must pass Drug Screen & Physical

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional years of supervisory experience working from multiple locations
  • Previous utility security experience
  • Experience with coordinating schedules for 24/7 operations
  • Experience with card access control and video management system (VMS)
  • Level III Security Guard Training

The Security Supervisor - Night Shift job responsibilities include:
  • Respond to intrusion alarms at offsite facilities and maintain security measures
  • Experience using Maximo or other similar inventory/work order management system
  • Oversees, coordinates, and supervises security guards at various plant locations prioritizing and assigning work
  • Ensuring staff is trained and maintain policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
  • Monitors various contracts with security companies and general contractors
  • Performs the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit, including developing and initiating emergency response plans.
  • Coordinates with other divisions, departments, outside agencies and citizens regarding security and safety 24 hours a day

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Physical Demand

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
