Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Associate’s degree, plus one (1) year of public event or other related experience.
  • Completion of thirty (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of two (2) years.


Licenses or Certifications:
  • Appropriate level of driver’s license as specified for the individuals job.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
The Facility Services Representative will focus on the monitoring and managing of the Austin Public Library’s parking garage and exit pay system. The position will greet and assist customers entering and exiting the garage. Monitor the garage for safety concerns, and assist vendors with building entry and exit. This position requires extensive standing/walking. The individual must be able to work in all weather conditions in a covered open garage. This position will require shift adjustments for early morning arrivals, evenings, weekends, and some holiday coverage. You may be required to travel to other library locations to monitor traffic.

TRAVEL :
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL :
This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

OVERTIME :
  • Overtime may be required with or without notice.


VETERAN :
  • Veteran candidates must provide a copy of their DD214 at the time of interview.


LANGUAGE :
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.

Pay Range
$20.80 - $22.88

Hours
Sunday - Saturday; 6:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
  • (Shift Work) The shifts may change according to departmental needs.
  • Work hours may includeearly morning, late evening, after-hours, holidays, and weekend work.


Parking garage may have up to 18 hours of parking garage coverage.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working in a paid parking garage.
  • Experience and knowledge of parking booths, systems, and machinery.
  • Excellent customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Assists clients with move-in and move-out activities. Communicates and works with Event Coordinator regarding status of event, event changes, special client/event needs, etc. Monitors facility entry and exit points. Performs facility lock-down when necessary. Perform security and safety services. Monitors and performs security and fire systems. Coordinates emergency response including evacuation process. Answers visitor/client questions and provide assistance. Observes and enforces department/facility safety and operational policies and procedures

  • Acts as point of contact for department/facility in absence of Facility Services Representative
