The Job

The Innovation and Technology Department is recruiting for Telecom Systems Specialist Trainees who review, evaluate, program, and make recommendations on telephone system services such as telephones, voicemail, and Auto Attendants for new and existing county facilities. The applicant needs to be able to interpret spreadsheets and billing reports. These positions are located at the ITD main office in San Bernardino and will primarily provide remote customer support over the phone and/or email with occasional site visits as needed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Incumbent must successfully complete a background investigation (fingerprinting and work history/education check) in addition to a job-related physical exam, including a drug test. pre employ
Travel Requirements: Travel throughout the county may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Working Conditions: Employees may be asked to work during unusual hours, inclement weather, and other adverse circumstances.

Promotion: Incumbents in the Telephone Service Specialist Trainee classification are eligible for promotion to Telephone Service Specialist ($54,308 - $74,609) upon meeting the minimum qualifications and receiving a satisfactory work progress report. Employees must qualify for promotion within 12 months or be terminated.

Minimum Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of recent customer service full-time equivalent work experience (within the last 7 years) which involved explaining or describing telecommunication systems to users, and/or supporting staff and managers engaged in telephone systems design, systems support and/or telephony operations and billing, updating systems and department documentation or experience programming telephone systems.

Note: Experience must be with an employer that utilizes a large information technology infrastructure.

Desired Qualifications

Education or experience in communication technology, departmental computing, and application support are highly desirable. Certifications in Cisco technologies or experience in Billing systems and Work Order systems are very advantageous. Experience in County equipment purchasing procedures is desirable. Experience with interpreting spreadsheets, floor-plans and billing reports is desired
