ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF HOUSING FACILITIES

California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.

The Position : The Housing community consists of traditional style residence halls and apartments, with a capacity to house 2500 residents. The newest facility, which opened in fall 2021, added a 326,000 square foot, 1500 bed, high-rise facility that included a new dining hall, meeting rooms, wellness/exercise spaces, study room, lounges, and bathroom/shower facilities on each wing. Under the direction of the Director for Housing and Residence Life, the Associate Director of Housing Facilities provides budget and personnel oversight, formulates, and administers policies and manages all activities of the Housing and Residence Life facilities unit, including major and preventative maintenance, custodial and grounds functions. The Associate Director serves on a leadership team responsible for developing and executing departmental budget, policies, strategic planning, and operational and administrative directions for Housing and Residence Life. This position plans, schedules, and coordinates renovation/construction projects and all maintenance for residential housing units, common spaces, office complexes, the dining commons, and several acres of grounds. The Associate Director directly supervises a total of 5 to 7 full-time staff and coordinates the daily work of up to forty (40) vendors contracted for services. This responsibility includes: customer service; service contract management; supervision of staff; budget development and oversight; safety; energy conservation programs; coordination of emergency call-back system to provide 24/7 facilities services, including weekends and holidays; formulating disaster preparedness policy and emergency response procedure with the Associate Director for Residence Life; and working closely with a diverse population of students, staff, and managers supporting the Housing Services program.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, management, industrial technology, or related field. Six to seven years of experience in facilities management, facilities maintenance, and capital planning, including two to three years of supervisory/management experience in a university housing program or private apartment housing. Demonstrated expertise in the appropriate facility management, staff supervision, budget management, leadership development, and training programs is necessary. Experience in the development of long range and preventative maintenance plans. Knowledge of collective bargaining procedures and contract conformance. Knowledge of Cal-OSHA, Injury Illness Prevention Programs, National Electric Code, and Uniform Building Code. Strong computer skills and familiarity with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of complex and technical assignments associated with a physical plant including knowledge of structural systems, HVAC systems and associated controls, plumbing, electrical, and electronic security systems, grounds, and custodial services. Ability to: lead during change and to create collaborative and collegial working relationships; effectively work with a diverse student population, paraprofessional and professional staff, including active participation and collaboration with other University constituents; and function effectively in a high energy work environment with constant demands from a variety of sources. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Desired Qualifications : Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in housing facilities and grounds. Knowledge of student housing in a higher education environment.

Compensation : Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $4,812 - $15,449/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment : The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
