JOB SUMMARY:

The City has a temporary part-time opportunity assisting the Museum’s Curatorial and Marketing Staff with design, printing of exhibition labels and Museum publications that are in Spanish.

The hiring range for this position is $26.83- $37.56 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position will remain open until filled.

This position is six (6) month max, temporary, less than 30 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Works closely with staff in producing design concepts, scheduling, bid process, proofing and revisions throughout the entire design and print production processes.
  • Designs Spanish exhibition labels and Museum publications using translated copy for use in print and online.
  • Collects, compiles, designs, and processes design and editing changes to the Department’s web pages under the direction of supervisor.
  • Accesses existing English-Language experiences for possible adaptation to Spanish, in collaboration with Museum Curators.
  • Some translation of materials from English to Spanish.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education:
  • High School graduate or GED.

Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design and/or Graphics

Required Education:
  • Two (2) years of working proficiency with Adobe software packages (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) is required.
  • Ability to speak fluent Spanish.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with web design and building, and social media.

Certifications:
  • Must pass multi-level assessment (speak, read, write, interpret & translate) in order to obtain Spanish fluency certification (required for position) prior to hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Fluent reading and writing English and Spanish is required.
  • Professional knowledge of copywriting/editing in print or digital media in English and Spanish is desired.
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Frequent m inimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
  • Frequent exposure to routine office noise and equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.

This position may be eligible for up to two days per week working remotely. Probationary employees (within the first six months of employment) may not be eligible. Subject to change based on business needs and performance expectations.
